Netflix Sign-In Rule Change: Users Sharing Accounts May Face Login Issues From New Policy
Netflix users who access the streaming platform through add-on memberships or shared accounts may soon face difficulties while signing into their profiles due to a new login requirement introduced by the company.
The OTT platform has started requiring every profile under a Netflix subscription to have a unique email address for logging in. According to a Netflix spokesperson, this sign-in update is a permanent change that began rolling out on June 15, 2026.
However, this new Netflix email requirement does not apply to profiles marked as belonging to children, according to a report by Ars Technica.
The change is aimed at making each Netflix profile more independent by allowing users to have their own login details instead of relying on the primary account holder’s credentials.
The new Netflix login system could also make it more convenient for users when signing into a new device or enabling two-factor authentication for improved account security.
Additionally, individual profile users will be able to maintain their own language preferences, audio settings, and display options according to their personal viewing habits.
