The Xeneon Edge Mounting Bracket Set enables the ultimate sim racing dash for Fanatec racers

Newspoint

After testing out the Xeneon Edge as a sim racing dash over the last week, I don't think I could go back to any other dash, and it's possible thanks to the new Xeneon Edge Mounting Bracket Set from Fanatec.

Corsair acquired well-established sim racing brand Fanatec in 2024, and finally, we're starting to see some crossover between the brands and some of their most popular products. Following the launch of the Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit, which was originally a Corsair concept device, Fanatec has now launched a Corsair-focused accessory for it, which allows the superb Xeneon Edge portable display to be used as a sim racing dash, and it's as fantastic as it sounds.

Of course, unofficial mounting sets for the Xeneon Edge are already available from various third-party sites, but this first-party, officially supported accessory, priced at a very reasonable €39.95 / £34.37, provides the ability for you to mount the Corsair Xeneon Edge display either vertically, to the side of your wheelbase, or horizontally, just above your wheelbase.

Due to space constraints, which is a problem a lot of sim racers face, I opted to go for a horizontally mounted display, and bolted the Dash Mounting Bracket onto my Fanatec ClubSport DD+, before then attaching the Xeneon Edge. This option is only available for certain Fanatec wheelbases, like the ClubSport DD+ and the brand-new Podium DD, as there are two perfectly positioned bolt holes on the front of the wheelbase.

You also get a Portrait/Landscape Mounting Bracket included, which can be used with third-party aluminium profile rigs, too, but it's specifically designed for use with the Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit and the Accessory Mount, which is sold separately. This allows you to mount your display to the side of your wheelbase, if you have the space!

Once the 14.5-inch display was attached, which is a touchscreen, boasts a resolution of 2560 x 720, has a 60Hz refresh rate and can be connected via USB-C or HDMI, it was just a case of setting it up with Corsair's ICUE software, getting it working with SimHub, and then I was off to the races.

From within SimHub (which is the way I'd recommend customising the dash, as you will have much more control over the widgets that you'd like to see), I imported my favourite dashboard, which is the Lovely Dashboard (if you know, you know), and then edited the resolution, before dragging and dropping whichever widgets I wanted to see across the huge 2560 x 720 display.

I'm talking pedal traces, lap times, delta times, gears, rev counter, and basically anything you can think of.

The resolution is, of course, superb and probably massively overkill for a sim racing dash, but the sheer horizontal size of the screen gives you so much room to play with, and allows you to see a lot of information during the racing itself, just by glancing down. It takes a bit of customising, just because the dash is so big, as most dashboards in SimHub aren't designed for 14.5-inch displays, but once you've got it all sorted, it's brilliant.

It's by far the best sim racing dash I've ever used, but if you want to use it as an extra display instead, to keep an eye on your pc temperatures, etc., it's also a fantastic, mini external monitor, that's pretty easy to mount with this new accessory.

Obviously, you'll need to already own an Xeneon Edge display to take advantage of the Xeneon Edge Mounting Bracket Set. But if you do have one, and you have a Fanatec wheelbase, it's an absolute no-brainer, and if you try it, you're not going back to anything else. It's superb.

And if you're looking for a new sim racing dash with no budget, the Xeneon Edge display is probably the best you can buy right now. It's a bit overkill, sure, but it's also super, super cool, and there are few other options that can match the size, or the resolution.
