US President Donald Trump has introduced a sweeping tariff package on imported drones and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) components, aiming to eliminate reliance on Chinese hardware across commercial sectors, law enforcement agencies and local governments. Under the new directives announced by the White House, the US will impose a 100% tariff on drone systems classified as “particularly sensitive” to national security . According to a report by The Financial Times, this tier covers systems that feature thermal imaging sensors or have an overall weight exceeding 25 kilograms. Lighter consumer and commercial units with a maximum takeoff weight under 25 kilograms will face a 255 levy.
