Anyone wanting some smart eyewear will probably head straight for a pair of the latest Meta Ray-Ban glasses. These clever wearables are now some of the most popular on the planet thanks to a range of frame styles and impressive tech inside that lets users take photos, listen to music and get real-time info and suggestions via Meta's intelligence. Ray-Ban smart specs are tough to beat, but they are about to get a new rival.

Google and Samsung have announced they are joining forces to release some intelligent eyewear. Just like Meta Ray-Bans, the news glasses will allow owners to ask for help with directions, get ideas about places to visit and receive personalised suggestions based on location. This will all be provided via Google's Gemini assistant.

Users can also get summarised notifications for important texts so they know what's happening without reaching for their phone.

Additional features include real-time translations - when in foreign places - with audio that matches the speaker's voice. Things like signs and menus can also be translated just by looking at the text.

Samsung also says that the glasses will work seamlessly within its ecosystem. That means Galaxy phone owners will be able to manage everyday tasks or effortlessly capture photos right from their face.

It's been confirmed that two styles will be available thanks to a collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
