WhatsApp To Soon Let All Users Add A Cover Photo To Their Profile
WhatsApp is testing an exciting new feature that will allow users to add a cover photo to their profiles. Until now, this feature was limited to WhatsApp Business accounts, but the company is now working to make it available to all users. With this update, WhatsApp profiles will become more personal and visually appealing, similar to cover photos on Facebook or LinkedIn.
Users will be able to upload any image as a cover photo directly through their profile settings. The image will appear at the top of the profile, creating a more customised look. This addition allows users to showcase their personality, interests, or favourite moments in a visually striking way, making profiles more than just a display of a profile picture and status.
A new privacy setting will also accompany the cover photo feature. Users can control who can view the image, choosing from three options: Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody. Selecting Everyone makes the cover photo visible to all WhatsApp users, even if they are not in the contact list. Choosing My Contacts limits visibility to saved contacts, while Nobody hides the image completely. This ensures that users have full control over their profile’s privacy.
Reports from WABetaInfo indicate that the feature has appeared on WhatsApp beta version 2.25.32.2 for Android. Currently, it is only accessible to a limited number of testers. WhatsApp is gathering feedback during this phase to refine the feature before a wider rollout. While there is no confirmed launch date, the update is expected to be rolled out gradually to all users in a future version of the app.
