Arunachal CM Rejects Chinese Encroachment As India Assigns Official Names To 27 Places

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has rejected reports of Chinese military encroachment in the state, saying the Indian Army is effectively patrolling and safeguarding the territory. His remarks came a day after the Centre identified 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh by their standard names on the official Survey of India map, amid China’s repeated attempts to rename places in the border state. The government said the exercise aims to ensure accurate identification and improve public awareness of the locations’ geographical and historical significance. Several newly marked places have strategic importance due to their proximity to the Line of Actual Control and past India-China military confrontations. India has consistently rejected Beijing’s naming attempts, saying they cannot alter Arunachal Pradesh’s status as an integral part of India.
