Department Of Space Clears Major Space Manufacturing Clusters In Gujarat And Tamil Nadu

In a major push to India’s growing private space sector, the Department of Space has approved the establishment of Common Technical Facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Developed with support from IN-SPACe, the facilities will provide advanced testing, validation and integration infrastructure for private firms, startups and MSMEs working in spacecraft and launch vehicle manufacturing. Gujarat’s proposed Space Manufacturing Park near Ahmedabad will focus on spacecraft systems and payloads, while Tamil Nadu’s Space Vehicles Cluster at Thoothukudi will support launch vehicle manufacturing near ISRO’s upcoming Kulasekharapatnam launch site. Officials say the move is aimed at strengthening India’s commercial space ecosystem and reducing infrastructure costs for private companies.
