DK Shivakumar Meets Karnataka Governor, To Take CM Oath On June 3

Karnataka Congress president D K Shivakumar has staked claim to form the government after being unanimously elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP). Shivakumar met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at Raj Bhavan shortly after the CLP meeting at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. Outgoing chief minister Siddaramaiah proposed Shivakumar’s name, which was seconded by senior leader G. Parameshwara and unanimously approved by party legislators. The meeting was overseen by Congress leaders KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala. The CLP also passed a resolution appreciating Siddaramaiah’s tenure as chief minister. Following Siddaramaiah’s resignation and the dissolution of the Council of Ministers, Shivakumar is now set to take oath as Karnataka’s next chief minister on June 3 in Bengaluru.
