'Do I Have To Ask Trump?': Omar Abdullah Launches Attack At Modi Govt Over Jammu-Kashmir Statehood

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has renewed his attack on the BJP over the restoration of statehood, accusing the party of repeatedly making promises without fulfilling them. Addressing a National Conference rally ahead of the party's 'Delhi Chalo' protest, Abdullah questioned what the Centre meant by the "appropriate time" to restore Jammu and Kashmir's statehood. Taking a swipe at the BJP, he asked whether he should approach US President Donald Trump to seek statehood. He also alleged that the BJP forms governments through the "back door" in states where it fails to secure a majority. Abdullah said restoring statehood would not be a favour but the fulfilment of a promise made to all political parties and the people of Jammu and Kashmir before the 2024 Assembly elections.
