'Don't Waste This Energy On One Resignation': Yogendra Yadav On CJP Future, 'Police Brutality'

In an interview with Times of India, political analyst Yogendra Yadav spoke on accountability for the July 20 lathi charge, the future direction of the movement, hours after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. He insisted accountability must be fixed for the "unprovoked" police action, including use of electric and nail-fitted batons and pellet guns, and said the protest stage shouldn't be vacated until this happens. Yadav argued the movement's energy shouldn't be reduced to just Pradhan's resignation, but should drive an overhaul of India's education and employment policy. He also addressed violence against journalists during the protests, distinguishing "media houses" from individual reporters, and apologised for attacks on journalists by protesters.
