Four Former AIADMK Ministers Switch To TVK; Fresh Political Churn Leaves Six Assembly Seats Vacant
A fresh political setback has hit the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu as Four of its former ministers, including two sitting MLAs, have joined the ruling TVK side.C Vijayabaskar, M R Vijayabaskar, S Valarmathi and MSM Anandhan joined the TVK at an event in Mahabalippuram near Chennai, just two months after the assembly elections. Among them, C Vijayabaskar and M R Vijayabhaskar had won the recent polls and submitted their resignations to Assembly Speaker J C D Prabhakar before switching sides.The development follows an earlier round of exits, where four AIADMK MLAs resigned and joined the TVK, taking the total number of vacant assembly seats to six.C Vijayabaskar said the decision was taken after discussions with people from his constituency and indicated that more leaders could join the party in the coming days. He also pointed to growing support from several districts.Meanwhile, M R Vijayabhaskar criticised internal decisions within the AIADMK, including changes in district-level leadership, and said the move came after consultations with supporters.DMK leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi as well as AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran have reacted to this change of line.The developments come as the ruling TVK, led by Vijay, governs Tamil Nadu after securing 108 seats in the assembly elections with outside support. With leaders switching sides and seats falling vacant, the political landscape in the state continues to evolve.
