Gujarat ATS Tightens Noose On JeM Terror Module With Five More Arrests
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested five more accused allegedly linked to a terror module of the banned Pakistan-based outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, taking the total number of arrests in the case to thirteen. The latest arrests were made from different districts across Gujarat, with officials stating that all the accused were part of the same network that had earlier come under investigation.Investigators say the accused had been in contact for over six months and were allegedly planning bomb blasts in Gujarat as well as other parts of the country.According to sources, the group was involved in manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and conducted multiple trial explosions in isolated locations. A major breakthrough came after forensic analysis of seized electronic devices, which revealed alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives based in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur.The Gujarat ATS is continuing its investigation to uncover the full extent of the network, including possible links, handlers and future plans, as part of efforts to prevent potential terror attacks.
