Hundreds of Indian healthcare professionals, mostly nurses from Kerala, are facing an uncertain future in the UAE following the closure of Dubai's Iranian Hospital. Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking urgent intervention, describing the situation as a humanitarian concern affecting Indian citizens abroad.The affected workers reportedly face difficulties related to employment visas, dependent visas and residency status after losing their jobs. Many fear being forced to leave the UAE despite years of service in the Gulf healthcare sector, including during the Covid-19 pandemic.The Kerala government has urged the Centre to engage with UAE authorities through diplomatic channels and help secure a fair and compassionate resolution for the affected healthcare workers and their families.
