A private school in Hyderabad has terminated a teacher after allegations that a Class 2 Hindu student was asked to memorise and recite the Kalma and Surah Fatiha as homework. The incident sparked protests by the student's parents, drew political attention, and reignited a debate over the role of religious instruction in schools.The school dismissed the teacher and permanently barred her from future employment within its group of institutions. Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed the action followed his intervention on social media. The school has not issued a detailed public explanation beyond the termination letter.
