India Conducts Successful Agni-1 Missile Test; Strategic Forces Command Validates All Parameters

India on Friday successfully conducted the test launch of the short-range Agni-1 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. The launch was carried out under the Strategic Forces Command and validated all operational and technical parameters, according to the Ministry of Defence. Developed by DRDO, the nuclear-capable Agni-1 missile has a strike range of around 700 to 1,200 kilometres. The successful test comes weeks after India conducted a major MIRV-capable Agni missile trial from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. Defence officials said the periodic missile trials are part of India’s strategic preparedness and deterrence capability enhancement.
