External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and lodged a strong protest over US Navy attacks in the Gulf that killed three Indian mariners. India described the use of lethal force against commercial shipping as unjustified and summoned the US Chargé d'Affaires. The strike on the tanker MT Settebello off Oman killed three Indian crew members while 21 others were rescued. New Delhi has also raised concerns about attacks on multiple vessels carrying Indian seafarers.
