India's 'Eye In The Sky' Netra AEW&C To Receive Final Operational Clearance This Month
India is set to achieve a major milestone in indigenous defence technology as DRDO prepares to formally declare the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) of the Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system on June 25 at the Centre for Airborne Systems in Bengaluru. Known as the Indian Air Force's "eye in the sky", Netra is India's first indigenously developed airborne surveillance and command-and-control platform. Built on the Embraer EMB-145 aircraft and equipped with an indigenous AESA radar, the system can detect, track and identify multiple aerial and maritime targets simultaneously. The FOC marks the successful operational maturation of the platform and significantly strengthens India's network-centric warfare, early warning and air defence capabilities.
