Lok Sabha Passes Anti-Paper Leak Bill Amid Ruckus Over Rahul's 'Shooting' Charge Against Amit Shah

The Lok Sabha has passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 by voice vote, clearing a major step towards tougher action against paper leaks and examination fraud. The Bill proposes stricter punishment, including up to 10 years' imprisonment, fines of up to ₹50 lakh for offenders, and penalties of up to ₹10 crore for organised paper leak syndicates. It also provides for fast-track courts in every state and mandates that investigations be completed within two months. The legislation was passed after a heated debate, during which Rahul Gandhi and the treasury benches clashed over allegations related to police action against student protesters. The Bill, introduced by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, will now be taken up in the Rajya Sabha.
