MH-60R Seahawk: Why The US-Made Helicopter Is Key To Maritime Security

India has received another MH-60R Seahawk naval helicopter from the United States, with two more expected to arrive this week, further strengthening the Indian Navy's maritime capabilities. The advanced multi-role helicopter, developed by Lockheed Martin, is part of India's order for 24 MH-60R Seahawks under the Foreign Military Sales programme signed in 2020.The MH-60R Seahawk is one of the world's most advanced naval helicopters, designed for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, maritime surveillance, search and rescue, medical evacuation and operations from aircraft carriers, destroyers and frigates. Equipped with dipping sonar, sonobuoys, multi-mode radar, Mk-54 torpedoes and Hellfire missiles, it significantly enhances the Indian Navy's ability to detect and neutralise maritime threats
