Modi Govt Going Slow On FCRA Bill To Woo Stalin’s DMK, Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP For Delimitation?

The FCRA bill is missing from Monday's Lok Sabha agenda as Parliament's monsoon session enters its final week, fuelling speculation that the government may be going slow on the contentious legislation to avoid alienating DMK and NCP(SP) — parties it's counting on to support the upcoming delimitation exercise and the 2029 women's reservation rollout. Introduced in March, the bill has faced strong opposition from Christian groups over concerns it threatens their charitable work and assets. DMK chief M K Stalin has backed demands to withdraw the bill or send it to a JPC. Mizoram CM Lalduhoma says a debate is expected around August 12.
