Mumbai Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly attempting to distribute capsules filled with zinc phosphide, a toxic rat poison, during a Muharram procession in Byculla. Investigators claim the capsules were disguised as Ayurvedic health supplements with professional packaging, licence details and herbal ingredient labels. Police say nearly 14,900 capsules were prepared and a major tragedy was averted after officers intercepted the distribution, though one participant reportedly fell ill after consuming a capsule. The investigation is continuing into the accused's alleged motive, online purchases, financial records and foreign travel.
