NHAI Under Fire As Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Develops Major Potholes 3 Months After Inauguration
The newly inaugurated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has come under scrutiny after large potholes appeared on the high-speed corridor barely three months after its inauguration. A viral video showed multiple potholes on the carriageway, raising concerns over road safety and construction quality. The person who recorded the video claimed his van was damaged after hitting one of the potholes. Responding to the incident, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said the road surface caved in due to water stagnation following rainfall and delays in commissioning the permanent drainage system. It attributed the delay to resistance from local residents and an ongoing land dispute affecting drainage infrastructure. NHAI said the damaged stretch has been repaired, interim drainage work is underway, and the site remains under continuous monitoring to ensure safe traffic movement.
