'Pakistan's Desperate Attempt To Deflect': India Snubs Khawaja Asif's 'War Over Indus' Remark

India strongly rejected Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif's remark that Islamabad could go to war over water security, calling the statement a desperate attempt to divert attention from Pakistan's own shortcomings. During a media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said such claims were fabricated and aimed at deflecting focus from Pakistan's human rights record. He also commented on the ongoing protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, describing them as the result of decades of economic exploitation, denial of fundamental rights and administrative oppression. Jaiswal alleged that Pakistani authorities had responded to the unrest with police brutality, internet shutdowns and restrictions on essential supplies. The remarks come amid heightened tensions after anti-government protests in PoK turned violent, leaving several people dead and many others injured in clashes with security forces.
