In a major setback for TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee, senior leader and MLA Madan Mitra has resigned from all party posts and joined the rebel camp led by Ritabrata Banerjee. Once considered one of Mamata’s closest and most trusted aides, Mitra’s exit signals deepening cracks within the TMC.After joining the rebel faction, Mitra openly targeted TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, alleging that the party’s functioning has become centred around protecting one individual.His resignation also comes amid an Enforcement Directorate probe, with his family being summoned in connection with a municipal recruitment scam.The crisis within TMC has intensified in recent weeks, with several key leaders including Anubrata Mondal and Rabindranath Ghosh joining the rebel camp. Additionally, nearly 19 MPs have broken away and aligned with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, backing the BJP-led NDA.With internal rebellion growing and senior leaders exiting, the political future of the Trinamool Congress faces serious questions.
