PM Modi Launches Rs 5,470 Crore Rail, Road Projects In Punjab

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched and inaugurated rail and road infrastructure projects worth over Rs 5,470 crore in Punjab during his visit to Jalandhar. The projects include the inauguration of 75 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, the Kartoli-Ambala train service, and the Amritsar-Chheharta-Varanasi Sant Ravidas Express.PM Modi also inaugurated a section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and laid the foundation stone for the Southern Ludhiana Bypass as part of National Highway projects worth over Rs 3,070 crore. The Centre says these initiatives will strengthen connectivity, improve passenger convenience, boost religious tourism and accelerate economic growth across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring regions. The visit also comes ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, adding political significance to the infrastructure push.
