PM Modi Meets Jonathan, World's Oldest Living Land Animal, During Seychelles Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the National Botanical Garden of Seychelles in Victoria along with Seychelles President Patrick Herminie shortly after arriving in the island nation on a State Visit. During the visit, Modi was seen feeding giant tortoises, including Jonathan, the world's oldest living land animal at 194 years old. The two leaders also planted a tree and interacted with garden staff, who briefed them about the site's flora and fauna. Modi arrived in Seychelles as the Guest of Honour for the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country's National Day. He received a warm welcome from President Herminie, senior ministers and members of the Indian diaspora. Modi also praised the diaspora after a traditional Kutch dance performance and reaffirmed India's commitment to strengthening ties with Seychelles.
