Prime Minister Narendra Modi said West Bengal was witnessing a renewed sense of optimism and development, asserting that the state had begun restoring its pride and shaping a new future. Speaking on West Bengal Day, he highlighted development projects across sectors such as railways, roads, agriculture and fisheries, saying they would strengthen the state's economy and accelerate growth. Modi said the BJP-NDA government was working to address gaps left over decades and revive stalled projects. Reflecting on Bengal's history, he recalled the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and the events surrounding Partition. He also stressed the importance of educating younger generations about West Bengal Day, praising Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee's role in opposing efforts to make the whole of Bengal part of Pakistan in 1947.
