PM Modi To Skip Khamenei Funeral; Bihar Governor, MoS External Affairs To Represent India: Report
Iran's Supreme Leader thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Eid al-Adha greetings and expressed confidence that the historic ties between India and Iran would continue to strengthen, according to Iranian sources cited by ANI. In his message, the Iranian leader said the friendship between the two countries, founded on mutual respect and shared interests, would continue to expand through the efforts of both governments. Meanwhile, India will be represented at the funeral ceremonies of Iran's late Supreme Leader by Bihar Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain and Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita. Iran had also invited Prime Minister Modi to attend the ceremonies, scheduled from July 4 to July 9 across multiple cities. The funeral is expected to draw millions of mourners and several foreign dignitaries.
