SC Declines Urgent Hearing On Police Action During 'Chalo Sansad' Protest
The Supreme Court has refused to urgently hear a plea seeking action over the Delhi Police crackdown on students during the July 20 "Chalo Sansad" protest. During oral mentioning, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant told the petitioner's lawyer, "Don't waste our time, and don't waste your time," and the bench declined to examine videos of the alleged police action.The petition sought suo motu cognisance of the police crackdown, claiming that students protesting over alleged examination paper leaks, reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA), and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had been subjected to excessive force.
