SIA Kashmir Secures Interpol Red Corner Notice Against Hizbul Terrorist Kandoo
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir has secured an Interpol Red Corner Notice against designated Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo in connection with the 2013 Tarzoo terror attack in Sopore, in which four Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel were killed. Officials said the notice will help international agencies locate, detain and initiate extradition proceedings against Kandoo, who is believed to have fled to Pakistan. The case, originally registered at Tarzoo Police Station, was transferred to the SIA in 2024 for a fresh investigation. The agency filed a chargesheet against six accused, three of whom are facing trial while two were killed in encounters. Kandoo, designated an individual terrorist in 2022, is also wanted in at least 10 other terror-related cases, including targeted killings and terror financing.
