TMC Civil War Escalates As Rebels Claim Control Of Party, Removes 'Supremo' Mamata Banerjee
The Trinamool Congress crisis deepened dramatically after the Ritabrata Banerjee-led rebel faction announced the removal of Mamata Banerjee as party chief. During a special session in Kolkata, rebel MLAs and councillors formed a ten-member National Working Committee and appointed Arup Roy as chairman. Around 40 councillors from multiple municipalities attended the meeting, while leaders including Firhad Hakim and Sandipan Saha were reportedly present. The rebels insist they are the legitimate Trinamool Congress, escalating the battle for control of one of India's most influential regional parties.
