'To Serve As Deterrent To Others': Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Orders Swift Action In Sexual Crime Cases
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay directed police to promptly register sexual crime cases, speed up investigations and ensure severe punishment for those involved in heinous offences following the alleged sexual assault and murder of a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore. During a review meeting with senior officials, Vijay stressed strict action in crimes against women and children and asked the Advocate General to expedite trials to ensure deterrent punishment. He also directed officials to strengthen precautionary measures and awareness initiatives related to women and child safety. The alleged assault and murder in Sulur has triggered outrage across Tamil Nadu, with two men arrested in the case. Vijay also spoke to the victim’s family over the phone, while further investigation remains under way.
