Twin-Flower Symbol Under Threat As EC Examines Mamata And Ritabrata Faction Claims
The battle for control of the Trinamool Congress has reached the Election Commission. Rival factions led by Mamata Banerjee and Ritabrata Banerjee have staked competing claims over the party's name, organisation and iconic twin-flower symbol. The EC has sought replies from both camps by July 26 and will decide whether a formal split exists. If the dispute remains unresolved during upcoming bypolls, the symbol could be frozen. The case may ultimately be decided using the Supreme Court's landmark three-test formula for party symbol disputes.
