Udhayanidhi Backs CM Vijay's Tamil Nadu Delimitation Stand, Demands No Cut In State’s LS Seats

Tamil Nadu has intensified its opposition to the Centre’s proposed delimitation exercise, with DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin demanding that the state’s Lok Sabha representation not be reduced and calling for delimitation to be deferred for 25 years. Chief Minister Vijay has also demanded 33% reservation for women from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections based on the existing 543 seats. The state argues that southern states should not be punished for controlling population growth and has proposed increasing the total number of seats. The Opposition has also demanded that women’s reservation be delinked from delimitation. Watch
