'Undermining India': FM Nirmala Sitharaman Slams Rahul Gandhi's 'Economic Disaster' Warnings

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman strongly defended the Modi government's economic record while criticising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly undermining India's achievements. Addressing BJP workers in Bengaluru during an event marking 12 years of the Modi government, she said Gandhi repeatedly paints a pessimistic picture of the country despite India's economic resilience amid global challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic and tensions in West Asia. Sitharaman dismissed his warnings of an impending economic crisis, asserting that India continues to be the world's fastest-growing major economy. She said the country's performance is reflected in GDP data and recognised by institutions such as the IMF. The finance minister also accused the opposition of creating a false perception about India's economic health despite ongoing global uncertainties.
