‘Unwarranted References’: India Blasts China, Pakistan Over Jammu-Kashmir Remarks

India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected what it called “unwarranted references” to Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement issued by China and Pakistan after talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India and no other country has the authority to comment on the matter. India also reiterated its opposition to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects in territories claimed by India, calling them violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The remarks came after the China-Pakistan statement described the Kashmir issue as “left over from history” and called for its peaceful resolution under the UN Security Council framework and bilateral agreements.
