Vinesh Phogat Gets Relief From Delhi HC Ahead Of Asian Games 2026 Selection Trials

Delhi High Court allowed wrestler Vinesh Phogat to participate in the Asian Games 2026 selection trials, calling the move necessary in the interest of sports and justice. The court directed WFI to video-record the trials and ensure independent observers from SAI and IOA remain present. The bench observed that WFI policies unfairly excluded athletes returning after maternity leave. It also questioned the Wrestling Federation’s show-cause notice against Phogat. The wrestler had earlier faced Olympic disqualification over a weight issue.
