WATCH: Uttarakhand Innovator’s Electric Flying Vehicle Takes Maiden Test Flight

Ravi Tamta from Kaflikhan village in Almora, Uttarakhand, has test-flown a single-seater electric flying vehicle prototype developed under his startup, Hapida Sky. Named HAPIDA SKYNeX, the machine is claimed to be based on modified drone technology. Videos of its initial flight have drawn attention on social media, with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also sharing the video on X. Tamta says the idea was inspired by travel difficulties in the hills, where a roughly 40-kilometre road journey can take nearly 90 minutes. He envisions covering the same distance in 10 to 15 minutes using the vehicle. The prototype was tested on open ground in Almora. Tamta has denied claims that it was imported from China. Technical details such as battery capacity, speed and flight duration remain undisclosed.
