Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh was banned by FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) after his sudden exit from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. The ban came as an indication of stand against Ranveer after his departure from Don 3, allegedly after the makers spent Rs 45 crores on pre-production.

Just the ban was announced, Sanjay Gupta, director of Hrithik Roshan-Yami Gautam’s film Kaabil

, took to X to express is view on the ongoing issue. Indirectly supporting Singh, Gupta said that there are consequences of boycotting an A-list actor.

He said that a film made with a big star often has hundreds of crew members. He said that their jobs get threatened when actors of Ranveer Singh’s stature get banned from working in the Indian film industry. He meant that many crew members and workers on sets worked per day basis and their daily wages get threatened by moves like this.

He tweeted, “When an A List Hero shoots there are more than 300 workers working on sets. Ban him and you are not stopping him but depriving the workers of their livelihood. What sense does it even make???”

Why did FWICE enforce a ban on Ranveer Singh?

On Monday, Ashoke Pandit, Chief Advisor to FWICE, said that Farhan had filed a complaint against Ranveer Singh after the latter walked away from Don 3

just before its international shoot schedule. Farhan is demanding Ranveer to pay his production house Rs 45 crores, the amount he claims to have spent on pre-production of Don 3.

Pandit said that while Excel Entertainment argued their case to FWICE, Ranveer did not show up to tell his side of the story despite multiple reminders. He also said that Ranveer’s employee questioned the film body’s jurisdiction and authority over the matter and offered to meet them on the Dhurandhar

actor’s behalf. FWICE refused, sending a non-cooperative directive against Singh.

After the ban was announced, Ranveer was spotted at the Mumbai airport on Monday night. Later, he was spotted at Chamundeshwari Temple in Karnataka, a visit linked with Kantara row.

About ‘Don 3’

Ranveer and Farhan announced Don 3 in 2023, but the film got delayed for around two years. Soon after Dhurandhar

released in December 2025, Ranveer was seen at the premiere of 120 Bahadur, which features Farhan Akhtar. It sparked speculation of Don 3’s revival. Later, reports said that Ranveer decided to walk away from Don 3 after changes in script.

Ranveer is currently basking in the success of Dhurandhar films, a spy action duology directed by Aditya Dhar. Both films collectively minted around Rs 3000 crore worldwide, setting new benchmarks and milestones in the industry.

Ranveer’s upcoming films include Pralay, which is yet to begin shoot.
