A major change is coming to Indian Railways! The B28 high-speed train will run on the tracks in 2027..
BEML is working on the project at its Bengaluru-based plant. The company received the order to manufacture the high-speed train from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). Once completed, the train will first undergo testing at the factory, followed by trials in Gujarat. Experts believe that this project is not limited to just a new train; it also offers Indian engineers and technical experts an opportunity to learn new technologies.
The train is being designed to operate at a speed of 280 kilometers per hour. It will be significantly faster than any train manufactured in India to date. The train will feature modern passenger amenities, comfortable seating, advanced safety systems, and cutting-edge technology. The launch of the high-speed rail service will enable long-distance travel to be completed in much less time than before.
This train will be part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, considered the country's first bullet train project.
State-of-the-art railway infrastructure is being developed along this approximately 508-kilometer-long corridor. Several new stations are being constructed under the project and will be linked to other modes of transport to enhance passenger convenience.Modern engineering techniques are being employed in this initiative. Elevated bridges, long tunnels, and specialized tracks are being constructed across various sections. Additionally, advanced power supply and signaling systems are being developed for the high-speed train.
With safety as a priority, a specialized monitoring system will be implemented along the corridor. Equipment for gathering weather data, monitoring high winds, and providing earthquake warnings will be installed. Mechanisms will be in place to immediately control the train in any emergency, ensuring passenger safety.
The impact of the high-speed train project will extend beyond the railway sector.
