Fast Bowler Ashok Sharma Replaces Injured Yudhvir Singh

Ashok Sharma, known for delivering one of the quickest balls in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at a speed of 154.2 kph, has been called up to the India A team for the ongoing one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka. He steps in for Yudhvir Singh, who has been sidelined due to an injury and has not participated in any of the three matches played by India A so far.

During his stint with the Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2026, Ashok showcased his talent by taking six wickets across six games, although he had a high economy rate of 10.85. Yudhvir Singh reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling on June 13 and had previously felt similar pain during a fielding practice on June 11. He will now follow a rehabilitation program under the guidance of the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to recover from a right rotator cuff injury.


BCCI Announces Player Replacement

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially confirmed Ashok Sharma's inclusion in the India A squad as a replacement for Yudhvir Singh. In a statement, the BCCI noted, "The Men's Selection Committee has named Ashok Sharma as a replacement for Yudhvir Singh in the India A squad for the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka. Yudhvir reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling on June 13 and also experienced similar pain earlier during a fielding session on June 11."
