Devshayani Ekadashi 2026: Auspicious events will not be possible from July 25 to November 20, weddings will begin after this

Devshayani Ekadashi is on 25th July and from that day onwards all auspicious works will be prohibited. Band, Baja, Baraat and other auspicious works will be put on hold for four months. All kinds of auspicious works including marriage, Mundan, Janeu, Griha Pravesh will have to wait till the month of November. Lord Shri Vishnu will sleep in Kshirsagar from 25th July to 20th November 2026. According to Hindu scriptures and Panchang, Devshayani Ekadashi is on 25th July. Chaturmas is starting from this day.  

According to religious beliefs, on this day, Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, will hand over the responsibility of creation to Lord Shiva and enter into a four-month yogic sleep in Kshir Sagar

While Lord Vishnu is asleep, auspicious activities undertaken during that period will not yield auspicious results. Therefore, no new or auspicious work is begun during this time. 

This pause on auspicious events will begin in November,
ending on Devuthani Ekadashi, November 20, 2026. On this day, Lord Vishnu will awaken from his four-month slumber, and the sound of clarinets and auspicious events will return. According to the calendar, the auspicious dates for marriage in November are November 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29.
