Patna Cyber Crime: Fake Instagram Profile Allegedly Used to Share Morphed Photos and Videos of NEET Student

A disturbing case of cyber harassment has surfaced in Patna, where a student preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was allegedly targeted through a fake Instagram account. According to the complaint filed by her family, an unidentified individual created a fraudulent profile using the student's identity and allegedly shared edited photographs, manipulated videos, and objectionable posts online.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about cyberbullying, identity theft, and the misuse of social media platforms. Police have registered the complaint and initiated an investigation, while the family has also sought assistance from the cyber crime unit to trace the person responsible.

Fake Social Media Profile Created in Student's Name

According to the complaint, the student has been living with her relatives in Patna's Kankarbagh area

while preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination.

Family members alleged that someone misused her name and identity to create a fake Instagram account. The profile was reportedly used to upload morphed images, edited videos, and objectionable messages with the apparent intention of damaging her reputation.

The family believes the account was created as part of a deliberate attempt to harass and defame the student.

Incident Reported to Police

After discovering the fake account, the student's relatives submitted a written complaint at Kankarbagh Police Station

They also shared details of the alleged fake Instagram profile, including its link and other available information, requesting immediate action to remove the account and identify the individual operating it.

Police have acknowledged the complaint and begun investigating the matter.

Family Says Student Is Under Mental Stress

They stated that the repeated circulation of edited content on social media has caused mental distress and anxiety, affecting both her studies and overall well-being. The family also expressed concern that the incident has created fear among other family members.

The complainants have urged both the local police and the cyber crime unit to take prompt action by:
