JEE Advanced 2026: What's next for qualified candidates?
New Delhi: Following the declaration of the JEE Advanced 2026 results, qualified candidates can now move on to the admission process. The next major step is the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling 2026, which is scheduled to begin on June 2.
Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) must participate in the JoSAA counselling process.

The authorities have also specified the minimum percentage required for inclusion in various rank lists.
Candidates in the CRL category must obtain at least 7.30 per cent marks in each subject and 25.26 per cent aggregate marks.

JoSAA counselling from June 2
Eligible candidates will be required to register on the official JoSAA portal and fill in their preferred institutes and courses. Seat allotment will be carried out in multiple rounds based on factors such as JEE Advanced rank, category, seat availability and candidate preferences.
Candidates are advised to carefully evaluate their options before locking their choices.
Registration and choice fillingThe registration and choice-filling process is mandatory for admission through JoSAA. Candidates must complete the required formalities within the stipulated schedule to be considered for seat allocation.
Applicants should keep all necessary documents ready, including academic certificates, category certificates (where applicable) and other supporting records. Regular monitoring of official announcements is recommended to stay informed about counselling dates and seat allotment rounds.
Candidates interested in pursuing Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) programmes at IITs must appear for the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2026.
According to the official schedule, AAT registration will remain open from 10 am on June 1 to 5 pm on June 2. Registration can be completed through the JEE Advanced candidate portal.
Only candidates who have qualified in JEE Advanced 2026 are eligible to register for the examination.
The AAT is conducted for admission to architecture programmes offered by select Indian Institutes of Technology.

JoSAA conducts seat allotment in multiple rounds. Once a seat is allotted, candidates can choose from available options depending on whether they wish to accept the seat or participate in subsequent rounds for a better option.
Candidates who receive a seat must complete document verification and pay the prescribed seat acceptance fee within the specified timeline.

- Class 10 certificate (proof of date of birth)
- Class 12 marksheet or passing certificate
