Meenakshi Seshadri Relocates To India, Seeks Meaningful Roles After 30-Year Hiatus 'Didn't Receive Exciting Offers Yet'
After spending decades away from limelight, former Bollywood actress Meenakshi Seshadri recently announced that she has returned to the entertainment industry. Sharing a video on social media, she said that she has relocated to India from the US and is seeking meaningful opportunities. See the video:

In an Instagram Reel, Meenakshi Seshadri announced that after three decades, she has returned to Bollywood. Seshadri, who was one of the top actors in the 80s and 90s, took a step back from acting after she moved to US. She shared a video, annoucing her decision and seeking meaningful roles.
In the caption, she wrote, “Dear friends this is a message to you all from Boston USA. I am here to celebrate my son’s graduation from Harvard University. And spend a fun summer with my family. I want to share that after my relocation to INDIA I have been working towards more opportunities in the entertainment industry. While there have been offers, they were either not exciting enough or just didn’t work out. I’m seeking the good wishes and blessings of all you wonderful fans. Who knows किसकी दुआ से मुझे अच्छा मौका मिले (Someone’s prayer can help me get good opportunities)”
In the video, she said, “A warm Namaste to my growing family of Instagram followers. Today I want to sincerely thank each one of you for your love, encouragement and constant support. After 30 long years, I have relocated back to my Karma bhoomi, Mumbai, India and have stepped once again into the entertainment industry with hope, passion and positivity.”
Meenakhi said she's looking forward to “meaningful” opportunities. She said she is open to both films and OTT web shows. She said, “Whether it's a lead role, a supporting character or even a short show. It doesn't matter as long as it's an impactful role. It could be films or OTT shows, but I want to explore roles that challenge me as an artist and help me discover new dimensions of my craft.”
She ended the video with a note of gratitude. She said that she is returning to acting purely because of her love for the craft. The actor concluded, “I am not here to prove any point, I am simply here because of the love and encouragement of my family and simply doing what I truly make me happy. And to my dear fans, I would say continue to support me and spread the word because your faith and love continue to inspire me every day.”
Many in the comment section applauded her decision, encouraging her to keep going until she finds the right roles. A few also said that they would love to see her on the big screen again.
Amid encouragement from fans, veteran Bollywood actor and her Hero co-star Jackie Shroff also left a comment, saying he wishes to work with Meenakshi again. He said, “I wish to work with you congratulations Josh.”
Meenakshi Seshadri is one of the most prominent faces in Bollywood from the 80s. She made her acting debut with Painter Babu (1983). She rose to fame with Subhash Ghai’s blockbuster Hero in which she starred opposite Jackie Shroff.
Her films like Damini, Ghayal, Shahenshah, Meri Jung and Ghatak made her one of the bankable stars of that time. Her performance in Damini received immense praise and acclaim. At the peak of her career, Meenakshi quit acting, got married to investment banker Harish Mysore and moved to the United States.
