MI vs RR: Jadeja & Shardul's Funny Banter Is a Light Moment That Entertained Fans in IPL 2026

Match 69 between MI and RR saw the 2008 winners overcome the five-time champions to seal a place in the Playoffs. But the moment that stood out was a funny exchange of banter between Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja in the last over of RR’s innings.

It began with Shardul dismissing Jadeja and getting pumped up with his celebrations. But it was premature as the delivery was declared a no-ball which meant Jadeja got a second chance. The southpaw was not shy to mock Shardul’s earlier celebration.

But it did not end there. Jadeja then smashed Shardul for two consecutive fours and then continued his mockery. It was all good fun as Shardul took it sportingly. They have played a lot of cricket together and know each other well on and off the field. The light moment amid an intense game proved to be good entertainent for the fans.

RR Enter Playoffs

Coming back to the game, RR went on to win by 30 runs. After their batters posted 205/8, the bowlers restricted MI to 175/9. The win allowed RR to climb to 4th spot and seal the final Playoffs spot. As a result, PBKS, who beat LSG in Match 68 and KKR who had just started to play DC in Match 70 were knocked out. KKR would eventually lose to DC and finish seventh.

Who Finished Where?

DC finished in 6th place while PBKS fell agonisingly short on 5th. CSK got pushed down to 8th while MI and LSG finished 9th and 10th respectively. MI and LSG were knocked out on the same day and CSK followed them later on. DC lost the moment PBKS beat LSG and RR’s victory meant it was the end of PBKS and KKR.

The Playoffs

RCB, GT, SRH and RR make it through to the Playoffs. RCB face GT in Qualifier 1 while RR take on SRH in the Eliminator. By May 29, both finalists shall be known and the summit clash is on May 31.
