NPPA New Drug Prices: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has taken a major step. The authority has fixed the retail prices of 39 new drugs under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order (DPCO) 2013.

NPPA New Drug Prices: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has taken a major step to provide relief to common patients from arbitrary drug prices. The authority has fixed the retail prices of 39 new drugs under the Drugs (Price Control) Order (DPCO) 2013. These include medicines used to treat serious illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, HIV, eye infections, and cancer. This step has been taken with the intention of making these medicines more affordable for patients.

The order was issued on July 8.

This price notification was issued by the Department of Pharmaceuticals on July 8, 2026, under paragraphs 5, 11, and 15 of the DPCO 2013. However, it should be noted that this order was issued not to reduce the prices of drugs already available in the market, but to establish the maximum retail price of new drug formulations. Applicable GST will be charged separately on these prices.

Retail prices of several essential medicines fixed

In the list released by NPPA, the retail price of Amlodipine+Bisoprolol+Telmisartan tablets, used to treat high blood pressure, has been fixed at ₹14.74 per tablet. Nepafenac+Moxifloxacin Ophthalmic Solution, used after eye surgery and to treat bacterial infections, has been priced at ₹68.64 per ml. Clopidogrel+Aspirin+Atorvastatin capsules, prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, have been priced at ₹6.37 per capsule. The list also includes prices for several fixed-dose combination drugs used to treat diabetes. These include Dapagliflozin, Empagliflozin, Sitagliptin, Metformin, Glimepiride, and Voglibose-based drugs.

Additionally, prices have been set for medications such as Amoxicilline+Clavulanate tablets and dispersible tablets, used to treat infections; eye drops used to treat glaucoma, HIV therapy kits, Vitamin D3 oral solution; and Imatinib Oral Solution, used to treat cancer. Tenecteplase (TNK-tpa) Injection 50mg is also among the most expensive medications on the NPPA's list. The retail price of the injection, used to treat heart attacks, has been fixed at ₹60,238.27 per vial.
