Renowned Kannada novelist C.N. Mukta passes away at 75

Mysuru: Renowned Kannada novelist and writer C.N. Mukta (Kallambella Narasimhamurthy Mukta) passed away on Friday morning after a prolonged illness. She was 75.

Mukta had been undergoing treatment after suffering from health-related issues. She breathed her last on Friday morning.

Born in Chitradurga, Mukta was the daughter of C.B.

Narasimhamurthy, a headmaster. Her brother, C.B. Jayaraya, was a well-known theatre actor. She completed her B.A. at Maharani's College, Mysuru, and B.Ed. at the Government College before serving as a high school teacher and later as a headmistress until her retirement.

Her first novel, Ashraya, marked the beginning of a distinguished literary career. She went on to write more than 75 novels and short story collections, including Anavarana, Aparichitaru, Jeevana Chakra, and Amrutamayi.
