Pakistan's PM Expresses Gratitude to US President

Islamabad: On Wednesday, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed his appreciation to US President Donald Trump for his decision to halt operations in the Strait of Hormuz.


This acknowledgment followed President Trump's announcement of a suspension of 'Project Freedom', which aimed to escort vessels through the strategic waterway, citing advancements in discussions with Iran aimed at resolving ongoing conflicts.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Shehbaz stated, "I am thankful to President Donald Trump for his bold leadership and timely decision regarding the pause in Project Freedom in the Strait of Hormuz."


He emphasized that Trump's positive response to requests from Pakistan and other allied nations, especially Saudi Arabia, would significantly contribute to fostering peace, stability, and reconciliation in the region during this critical time.


The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that encourage restraint and seek peaceful resolutions through dialogue and diplomacy.


He expressed optimism that the current diplomatic momentum would culminate in a sustainable agreement, ensuring lasting peace and stability for the region and beyond.


In a separate address at the 6th International Paigham-e-Islam Conference in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz conveyed his hopes that ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran would yield enduring peace.


He underscored Pakistan's role in facilitating dialogue, stating that these efforts had opened avenues for negotiations between the two nations.


The Prime Minister expressed confidence that these discussions would soon evolve into a framework for sustainable peace in the region, preventing further loss of life.


He also extended his gratitude to the US and Iran for their willingness to engage in talks in Pakistan, as well as to Saudi Arabia, China, and Turkiye for their contributions to the peace dialogue.


This statement comes amid reports indicating that the US and Iran are nearing a potential agreement.
