Devastating Incident in North Hills

A heartbreaking murder-suicide incident occurred in North Hills on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including a newborn girl and a toddler. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that one of the deceased adults was identified as 31-year-old Khajag Basmajian. The victims included 6-day-old Ella Basmajian, 2-year-old Alec Basmajian, and a woman in her 30s, whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification.

Authorities responded to a shooting report at a residence on Londelius Avenue around 8 PM. Upon arrival, officers from the LAPD’s Devonshire Division discovered all four victims inside the home, each suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Investigators have classified the incident as a murder-suicide and confirmed that no additional suspects are being sought.


Initially, police described the victims as a man and woman aged between 35 and 40, along with a child aged 5 to 7 and a 4-month-old infant. However, the LA County medical examiner later provided updated details, clarifying the identities and ages of the victims.


As emergency responders arrived, neighbors expressed their shock at the tragedy unfolding in their community. Undreal Turner, a local resident, remarked, “It’s just shocking to be in our neighborhood, something that drastic and devastating in the neighborhood. It’s sad. Four people lost their lives today.”


Turner emphasized the importance of checking in on parents in the community, asking, “Do they need any help? Do they need any assistance? Do they need any support?” Members of the mayor’s Crisis Response Team were also dispatched to provide support to those affected by this tragic event. The investigation into the North Hills murder-suicide continues as authorities seek to understand the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
